Common Issues

No photos or videos are found

Cleanup needs full photo library access to scan for duplicates and large videos. Open your device settings, find Cleanup, and allow access to all photos. If you granted access to selected photos only, the app can see just those items.

Scanning takes a long time

A large library takes a while on the first scan because every photo is analyzed on your device. Keep the app open while it works. Later scans are faster because results are reused. If your device gets hot, scanning slows down or pauses and picks up again once it has cooled.

Some photos are waiting to download

Photos and videos kept only in iCloud are not downloaded by the automatic scan, so it never uses your data or storage without asking. To include them, tap Download & scan on the Clean page.

Deleted photos still use storage

Deleted items go to your Recently Deleted album and keep using storage until that album is emptied or the retention period ends. Empty it in the Photos app to reclaim the space immediately.

Compression finished but the video looks the same size

Compression writes a new, smaller copy and leaves the original untouched until you remove it. Delete the original after checking the copy to actually free the space. Videos that are already efficiently encoded are skipped, because re-encoding them would not save enough to be worth the quality loss.

Compressing several videos at once

With Premium you can select several videos and compress them together, choosing Auto for quality close to the original or Smallest to free the most space. Videos are compressed one at a time, and you can leave the page while they are; a card on the Compress page shows the progress. Keep Cleanup open until it finishes: switching to another app pauses compression. You can stop, restart, or remove any video in the list.

Contacts are not merging

Contacts merging needs contacts permission in your device settings. Merging keeps one card with all the phone numbers and email addresses from the selected duplicates; the first selected card keeps its name and photo. You can save a backup first and restore it later from Contacts › Backups.

Ads or free uses are unavailable

You get a few free uses each day, and after that you can watch a short ad for another. Rewarded ads depend on ad availability in your region and on your privacy choices. If no ad can be served right now, try again later or subscribe to remove the limit entirely.

Premium and purchases

Premium removes ads and the daily limit, and unlocks compressing several videos at once. If you already purchased Premium, open Settings in the app and tap Restore purchases.

Privacy

Cleanup analyzes your photos, videos, and contacts on your device. Photos, videos, and contacts are never uploaded to our servers. Nothing is deleted without your confirmation.
